A penetration test (also known as pen testing, ethical hacking, security consulting, security testing or IT Health Check) simulates hacking attempts on networks, websites and applications, in order to identify security vulnerabilities that a real hacker could exploit.

Organisations are increasingly reliant upon information technology for their criticial business functions and day-to-day operations. The continued confidentiality, availability and integrity of these systems is vital to consumer and shareholder confidence and is critical to the success of the business.

Penetration testing provides a detailed analysis of an organisation's security posture and will highlight areas where improvements need to be made. This type of analysis is necessary to defend against an ever-increasing level of threat from industrial sabotage/espionage, disgruntled employees, viruses and other malware, remote hackers, foreign intelligence agencies and organised crime.

Upon completion of a penetration test, the client is provided with a test report which provides summary and detailed tables of the identified vulnerabilities and advises on solutions that will improve security. Identified vulnerabilities are analysed and categorised according to risk levels and detailed recommendations are made that will enable the client to take remedial action and close the issue with minimal effort.
